Gastón Durand

Gastón is a partner at Forvis Mazars Tax & Legal and head of the Legal department at the Madrid office, as well as a member of the Management Committee of Forvis Mazars in Spain.

He is a member of the Illustrious Bar Associations of Oviedo and Madrid, respectively since 1995 and 1998. He holds a Law degree from CEU, affiliated with the University of Alcalá de Henares.

He has a Master's degree in Law from the School of Legal Practice of the Principality of Asturias, as well as a Master's degree in Labor Law and Social Security from the Center for Financial Studies.

He develops his teaching activity as coordinator and professor of the subject of Civil and Commercial Procedural Law of the Master's in Business Law taught by the San Pablo CEU Business School. He has also served as a professor in Civil and Commercial Law subjects at the University of Oviedo.

His professional activity as a lawyer, with extensive experience, is developed in the following areas:

  • Procedural Law and Arbitration. In all types of procedures related to business law, both in the civil and commercial fields as well as in the criminal field. 
  • Insolvency law and operations of refinancing and restructuring of companies in crisis, acting as a lawyer in voluntary and necessary insolvency proceedings as well as in the defense of creditors. 
  • Registered in the Register of Insolvency Administrators of the Illustrious Bar Association of Madrid since its creation, he has been appointed as insolvency administrator in different ordinary and abbreviated procedures, as well as trustee and liquidator in procedures under the previous insolvency regulations.

As an author, he has published various articles in specialized magazines and in the Annual Litigation for Lawyers, and has regularly collaborated for several years with the magazine Propiedades.

He is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Legal Practice Magazine published by the Center for Financial Studies, where he has participated as a jury member of the tribunal that annually awards the CEF prizes.

As a speaker, he has participated in various conferences, workshops, and seminars on matters related to procedural and insolvency law.
