The FCA is replacing Gabriel with RegData

In October 2020, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) started replacing Gabriel regulatory reporting system with RegData, with the first group of firms transitioning from mid-October.

Who the FCA decides to integrate onto the new system first, is based on the nature of their reporting obligations and schedules. All firms are expected to have migrated by April 2021.

What is RegData?

RegData, much like Gabriel, allows you to:

  • Submit regulatory data
  • View tailored schedules of reporting requirements
  • View all submissions in one place

What sets it apart, however, is that it has been improved based on industry feedback of Gabriel and therefore now operates faster, is easier to use, and is built with more flexible technology.

What are the next steps to move to RegData?

  • Each FCA registered business will receive three direct emails from Gabriel advising them of their moving date
  • These three emails will be sent to firms three weeks, five days and one day before they move to RegData
  • Compliance consultants will receive reminders for every firm their user account is currently associated with in Gabriel
  • Firms will not be able to access RegData until they and their users’ data have been moved across from Gabriel
  • Until then, the FCA said they should continue to report via Gabriel, using their existing Gabriel login details

What do firms need to do now?

Prior to their moving date, firms need to:

  • Check they have up-to-date contact details in Gabriel
  • Review their users and permissions (e.g. principal users and administrators)
  • Ensure accurate information is held on all other active users
