UK immigration update: Increase in immigration fees

The UK Home Office has announced substantial increases to visa, sponsorship and related immigration fees, effective 9 April 2025.

These changes will impact several categories commonly used by businesses, including work visas, dependents, visitor visas and sponsorship services. The Home Office has stated that these increases are intended to ensure the UK immigration system is self-funded and to support the operation of the border and migration system, as part of efforts to reduce the reliance of the migration and borders system on taxpayer funding.

We recommend reviewing your global mobility plans and upcoming applications to manage the financial impact of these changes.

Our recommendations on the immigration fee increases

  • We encourage early assessment of any upcoming visa applications or CoS assignments. Where feasible, submitting applications before 9 April 2025 may help avoid the higher fees.
  • These fee increases are significant, especially for organisations sponsoring multiple employees and dependents. We recommend factoring these changes into your global mobility budget and internal planning.
