Matthew Pert Financial Services Tax Manager
Matthew has been working in tax for ten years with a focus on the insurance and Lloyd’s market for the last eight years. He has been involved in all aspects of an insurance company’s operation, including:
- Compiling their tax returns and considering how the UK tax authority will view the treatment given to items within the return;
- Planning how an insurance group structures its operations to remain tax efficient; and
- Reviewing the potential tax implications of products offered by insurers and intermediaries (including any Insurance Premium Tax (“IPT”) considerations that may arise).
He uses knowledge and experience of UK tax law combined with his understanding of the insurance market to ensure that his clients pay the correct amount of tax. He has a broad range of experience covering both direct tax and IPT. He is currently working with one of our clients to ensure that their products charge the correct amount of IPT, including on any finance charged in conjunction with the underlying contract for insurance.
