France, Hong Kong signed the long-awaited Comprehensive Double Taxation Agreement

Hong Kong signed an agreement with France on 21 October 2010 to avoid occurrences of double taxation and prevent fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital.
Hong Kong's Financial Secretary John Tsang and French Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment Christine Lagarde signed the agreement in Paris on behalf of the two governments.
This is the 15th comprehensive double taxation agreement (“CDTA”) for the avoidance of double taxation concluded by Hong Kong with its trading partners, coming after those with Belgium, Thailand, the Mainland China, Luxembourg, Vietnam, Brunei, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Hungary, Kuwait, Austria, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Liechtenstein.
