Kenneth Morrison appointed to ICAS Council
ICAS has appointed three new international members to join its Council for the next two years, as part of its ambition to expand its global presence and build a leading professional community.
PwC partner Clive Bellingham CA, based in Switzerland; Mazars practicing director Kenneth Morrison CA, based in Hong Kong; and Shell vice-president of tax for the Americas, Jim Robertson CA, based in the United States; were appointed to the ICAS Council at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 22 April.
In a move reflecting the increasing number of ICAS members under the age of 35, two young CAs have also joined ICAS Council. Indy Hothi CA, EY senior economist (and winner of the One Young CA award 2015), and Laura Sutherland CA, EY manager, international tax services, both based in the UK, will serve for the next four years.
ICAS announced at its AGM that 50 per cent of its members (10,000) are now based outside of Scotland in more than 100 countries around the world. Membership of ICAS has reached a record high of 21,000 CAs, which represents a 50 per cent increase over the past 20 years. More than a quarter of members are under 35 years of age.
Anton Colella, ICAS CEO, said: “The reputation of the CA qualification has long been an international career passport for our members. From Singapore to South Africa, New Zealand to Nigeria, 50 per cent of ICAS CAs are now based outside of Scotland in more than 100 countries around the world.
“As we seek to build a leading professional global community, it has never been more important for our members around the world to be represented on the ICAS Council. I’m delighted to welcome Clive, Kenneth, Jim, Indy and Laura to the ICAS Council and we look forward to benefiting from their experience and knowledge in the years to come.”
