Clothes / Toys Collection Request 2010 for rural schools and villages
Location: Qinghai and Sichuan Province
Mazars is proud to take part in the Clothes and Toys Collection for remote areas in Qinghai and Sichuan Province in China. Now in its 7th year, the collection has undoubtedly become a significant event in Shanghai’s charity calendar and the cooperation of all involved is always greatly appreciated.
Clothes, toys and school equipment/study materials will be collected by Crown Relocations and then transported to various rural areas in Qinghai and Sichuan Province with the help of native graduates and volunteers.
What are we collecting?
600 boxes of clothes and toys for rural Tibetan schools and villages in Qinghai Province and three villages in two counties in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province.
- children's clothes (ages 7-15)
- children’s school bags (ages 3-7)
- kindergarten school equipment (maps, globes, rulers, etc. of an educational nature)
- children’s materials about natural science and stories (Chinese and simple English)
- secondhand computers for schools
- adult clothes (sweaters, coats, pants, jackets etc.)
Clothes / Toys Collection 2009
Last year’s collection changed lives of 4,500 Tibetans, including many Yushu earthquake victims, who benefited from 430 boxes of clothing and toys.
“My name is Nanshem and I am 60. There are 8 in my family: my wife and our daughter with her 5 children. I am the only male worker in our family. Poverty prevents all of my grandchildren from attending school. My family owns 25 yaks and 50 sheep. In addition to selling a few livestock each year and from selling caterpillar fungus, we make 7,000-8,000RMB annually. I am disabled and my daughter is mute. We spend about 1,000RMB on medical expenses. These clothes you so generously donated means we will won't have to buy clothes for the next year. Thank you.”
“My name is Shem Tsi and I am 33. In my family, there are 5 people, including my wife, my elder son who is a monk, my little son, and my daughter. Our family owns 50 yaks and 70 sheep. All of our family income comes from those livestock. Each year, we earn 3,000-4,000RMB. Deducting the part spent on my wife’s medical expenses, we have 2,000RMB each year left for the family with which we can barely make ends meet. We are grateful for your donation.”
Collection points 2010
Collection boxes will be available in Mazars office in Shanghai from Friday, 15th October. Mazars team members are encouraged to generously donate much-needed goods for the less fortunate. The collection will close on Friday, 22nd October around 9am, as Crown Relocations will come and collect the boxes during that day. These boxes will then be delivered to Crown Chengdu by the end of October in order to organize the final deliveries.
