Forvis Mazars in Türkiye achieves B Corp certification!

International Tax, Independent Audit and Consultancy firm Forvis Mazars in Türkiye has become a certified Benefit Corporation (B Corp) in recognition of its positive impact on society and the world. As the first B Corp company in the independent audit and consultancy space in Türkiye, Forvis Mazars ranks among the most inclusive, equitable, and innovative global organizations, excelling in transparency and governance to effectively manage its social and environmental impacts.

Dr. İzel Levi Coşkun, CEO of Forvis Mazars in Türkiye, explained that becoming a B Corp certified entity is very valuable in terms of showing that sustainability efforts have been integrated into a firm’s corporate culture and highlighted this as an important milestone in Mazars’ sustainability efforts.

“We at Forvis Mazars in Türkiye have been working to advance our sustainability strategy since 2013. This means our goal is not to be the best firm in the world, but instead to be the best firm for our world.

We have consistently communicated this message to our stakeholders, particularly our employees. The B Corp assessment applies uniformly across countries and sectors, using consistent criteria for firms aiming to make a positive impact, and I am delighted that we exceeded these standards. This indicates that our sustainability efforts are beginning to resonate within the organization.

“Our B Corp journey is just beginning”

Our journey is not at an end when we earned our B Corp credentials; we remain committed to progressing from continuity to sustainability with determination. No one company can change the world alone, but united, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.”

Forvis Mazars in Türkiye applied for B Corp certification process in 2022 to help better integrate sustainability into its corporate culture and address gaps using their global evaluation system. The process included reviews by senior management and detailed reporting to identify areas for improvement, including one-on-one consultations with B Corp advisors, presenting selected metrics to B Corp, and routine follow-up meetings. In 2024, Mazars was able to score 81.8 points in governance, employee relations, social impact, environmental stewardship, and customer engagement, joining the 8,500 B Corp-certified companies across 96 countries.

Mehmet Eronat, Company Partner, and B Corp Leader at Forvis Mazars in Türkiye, commented that the creation of roles such as the B Corp Special Officer, Internal Sustainability Director, and teams for human resources, marketing, sustainability consultancy, budget, and reporting were just some of the outcomes of extensive efforts during the work process.

B Corp is a natural next step in achieving sustainability goals

“Since 2017, we have communicated our sustainability efforts to all stakeholders through sustainability and integrated reports. However, merely reporting to our stakeholders was no longer sufficient for Forvis Mazars in Türkiye’s evolving needs. Motivated by our goal to attain B Corp certification, we sought to thoroughly assess our sustainability practices and identify areas for improvement within our organization.

By achieving this rare certification in Türkiye, we are benchmarking our efforts against leading global change-makers and charting a path forward. Following extensive teamwork, we earned B Corp certification with a score of 81.8, thereby gaining international recognition for our decade-long commitment to our value-driven business model.”

Forvis Mazars in Türkiye was inspired to affirm their successful practices and to uphold their commitment to both their people and the planet, regardless of circumstances, through the B Corp certification process. Identifying areas for improvement encouraged the firm to challenge existing habits and exit comfort zones.

The firm remains dedicated to tracking and enhancing its efforts, aiming not only to maintain its B Corp certification but also to improve its score. Forvis Mazars in Türkiye began its sustainability initiatives in 2013 and has consistently shared its progress through sustainability reports since 2017, distinguishing itself as the first in its sector to adopt integrated reporting.
