Mazars announces ten new Partners
Mazars, the international accounting and advisory firm, has appointed ten new partners in the UK.
Five partners have been promoted from within the business and are drawn from Audit, Consulting, Restructuring Services and Financial Planning in locations across the UK, serving clients from individuals to entrepreneurial businesses to financial institutions, listed businesses and public sector bodies. Three Partners have joined as part of the acquisition of Hall Liddy, the leading healthcare accounting firm in the North-West, and the firm has also secured the services of experienced specialists Max Bark and Clive Fathers from competitors.

The new partners are:
Matt Carter – Restructuring Services
Primarily based in Gloucester, Matt specialises in personal insolvency assignments and is a leading appointment taker in the bankruptcy market. He has been instrumental in growing the market-leading Mazars National Bankruptcy Centre in recent years and has latterly focused on growing the wider Restructuring Services business unit. As a Partner, Matt has joined the RS leadership team with a focus on developing and enhancing the national business when offering advisory and insolvency options to our wide range of clients.
Leila Kamdem-Fotso – Consulting, Financial Services
Leїla joined Mazars in Paris in 2005 as a Banking Consulting junior associate, and subsequently transferred to our London office in 2012. She heads our Portfolio Solutions offering, advising banks on credit risk, non-performing loans management and climate risk. She will continue to contribute to the development and management of client relationships. In her role as Head of People for the Consulting service line, her focus will also be on driving employee engagement.
Neil Strong – Tax
Based in Glasgow, Neil joined Mazars in 2014, and has developed the Mazars’ client base across Scotland, attracting numerous new clients to the firm via his network in the local market and provision of bespoke tax planning solutions. Neil will focus upon building further momentum in the local market, increasing recognition and establishing Mazars as the firm of choice for businesses and their owners.
Karen Murray – Audit, Public Sector
Karen joined the Mazars in Manchester in early 2018, with a focus on delivering our public sector external audit contracts in the North West. Karen has built a highly respected team and is establishing the firm’s reputation as a major supplier to the public sector market in the region. She is committed to supporting the growth of Mazars’ external audit offer across central and local government, the NHS and the not for profit sector.
Andy Springford – Financial Planning
Andy joined Mazars Financial Planning on its graduate scheme in 2008 and has quickly moved through the ranks at Mazars. For the last 6 years he has been developing our Financial Planning offering in the south of the country, with a highlight coming in 2017 when he was awarded Financial Planner of the Year at the FTAdviser Money Management Awards. Andy’s focus going forward will be on strategic business development, to help continue to grow our Private Client proposition both at a local level and nationally.
Max Bark – Audit & Assurance
Max Bark is a Financial Services Audit and Assurance Partner based in London. Max has joined Mazars from EY, with over 20 years of experience providing audit and assurance services to a wide range of banks and financial institutions in London, New York and Buenos Aires. He is focussing upon further growing Mazars’ banking audit practice along with a strong emphasis on continuously improving audit quality.
Clive Fathers – Tax
Clive has joined Mazars from Grant Thornton, and will lead the national Specialist Tax Services team. Leading a team of 50 subject matter specialists across the UK, his remit covers immigration and global mobility advisory services, employment taxes, reward, tax risk, assurance and investigations services. Clive has a proven track record of growing high performing teams and will focus on building out these services from the strong nucleus that he has inherited.
Des Liddy – Healthcare
In almost three decades of experience as a specialist accountant covering both the medical and legal sectors, Des has built an extensive network of clients across the healthcare and legal sectors, as well as providing advice for retired and high net worth individuals. As co-founder of Hall Liddy, Des built the leading medical accounting firm in the North West. Des joined the Partnership upon Hall Liddy’s acquisition in June 2019 and will focus on building a leading UK-wide healthcare practice with Mazars.
Andrew Pow - Healthcare
Andrew joins Mazars with the acquisition of Hall Liddy, the leading medical accounting firm in the North West. With over 20 years’ experience in medical accounting, his specialist areas include appraising the performance of GP practices, changes in GP structures, and the NHS pension scheme. Andrew is a member of the AISMA board and a leading commentator on healthcare issues.
Melanie Thomas – Healthcare
Previously a Director at Hall Liddy, acquired by Mazars in June 2019, Melanie has joined the Partnership with over 20 years’ experience in medical accounting. Melanie combines a specialist knowledge of the healthcare sector with a background in mergers and acquisitions. In addition to managing services for a range of GP practices, she has a particular interest in GP federations, practice mergers and restructuring. She is also involved in providing financial training for GP registrars.
