Q&A: Natalie Wright, Leeds Managing Partner, on the launch of our new global network

Forvis Mazars, the newest top 10 global professional services network, launched on 1 June. Formed of Mazars, the international audit, tax, and advisory firm, and FORVIS, a top ranked firm in the United States, it will operate from central Leeds with Mazars’ existing team and services, providing continuity for our clients alongside a range of longer-term benefits.

With a projected $5 billion global network, Forvis Mazars is not just another partnership; it is the largest new entrant in the global rankings in decades. With only two member firms, the structure allows the firm to remain agile at scale, a unique position in the accountancy sector.

Our Leeds Office Managing Partner, Natalie Wright, discusses what the impact of this bold move will be on our clients, employees and the business landscape in Yorkshire and beyond.

What does this new partnership mean for Yorkshire clients?

The creation of the Forvis Mazars network is incredibly exciting for all of us. By utilising our global connections alongside our local expertise, we will have an even greater impact in the marketplace across Yorkshire. Our same local team now has a new global reach, and our new colleagues in the US have a very similar focus to us in terms of the clients they serve, with more than 70% being privately owned. With a projected global revenue of $5 billion, we're bringing unprecedented resource, insights and expertise to the region and beyond. Through Forvis Mazars, clients in Leeds will have access to a greater range of services, knowledge and advice, alongside the local expertise they currently receive.

How will the strengthened presence in the United States benefit Yorkshire firms?

Our enhanced US presence is particularly exciting for us in Yorkshire as it provides expertise on-the-ground to better assist privately owned and PE backed businesses who are looking to expand or operate across the Atlantic. We can now provide more comprehensive support for transatlantic business operations, which is crucial for many of our growing local clients. We can assess potential locations, understand market dynamics and identify opportunities in what otherwise could end up being a complex landscape.

There are also greater opportunities for privately owned businesses who want to explore exit planning and risk mitigation strategies. We will have greater reach to potential buyers and the ability to tap into overseas investment which could help to accelerate growth plans, whilst providing our clients with the ability to de-risk strategically. We already have the expertise when it comes to advising clients on succession planning, investing for growth and selling businesses but now our same local teams are underpinned by a far greater global reach.

How will the two-firm structure of Forvis Mazars benefit Yorkshire clients?

The structure allows us to be agile and responsive as the network comprises of just two member firms. Unlike many others in the market that must harmonise the interests of hundreds of separate legal entities, decision-making at Forvis Mazars can be streamlined. This means we can adapt quickly to the evolving needs of our clients, optimise resources and maintain a sharp focus on client service and strategic initiatives. In today's fast-paced business environment, this agility is crucial, especially for the innovative and dynamic companies in Yorkshire.

What specific benefits can Yorkshire businesses expect in terms of service offerings?

As trusted advisers, we continually monitor local market conditions, emerging sectors and macroeconomic impacts to tailor our advice to clients and their unique needs. This will be further strengthened by the depth and breadth of our knowledge and expertise through the network. By connecting with experts across borders we will help our clients to gain a competitive edge in their sector which is increasingly important in the era of AI and digital transformation.

Above all, we are committed to delivering an outstanding client experience. What drew us to create Forvis Mazars was the strong emphasis on client service: we are committed to delivering an unmatched client experience that is responsive, personal and feels right for each client. This combined expertise and commitment of FORVIS and Mazars means we can deliver a unique service to the market.

How does the network impact career development for your team in Leeds?

It brings exciting opportunities. Our team members will benefit from the opportunities to grow professionally through shared learning within our broader network, cross-border collaborations and potential secondment programs with our US offices, all while remaining rooted in the vibrant Yorkshire business community. This global exposure enhances their skills and ultimately benefits our local clients.

We look forward to developing even stronger relationships with our colleagues in the US and providing our team in Leeds with new opportunities.

How have Yorkshire clients responded to the partnership?

The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Our clients recognise the value of having a global network with a strong local presence and understanding and see it as different. They also appreciate that, on day one, nothing changes: there’s continuity in the teams they work with and the services we offer. The benefits will be gradual but consistent and will add to their experience in a meaningful way.

In summary, what's your message about Forvis Mazars and the future?
