Mazars in Australia celebrates its expansion
Bringing together clients, colleagues and business associates, Mazars in Australia held consecutive events to mark the occasion. While each event had its own unique format, all the events shared a common theme - to officially launch and showcase Mazars' expanded expertise, local presence and global reach.
Festivities commenced in Sydney with an event held on the Sculpture Terrace at the iconic Museum of Contemporary Art, in Circular Quay. Held during Sydney’s Annual Vivid Light Festival, this made for a stunning backdrop over Sydney Harbour. MC Robert Ovadia, client and journalist at Seven News, set the scene for our speakers, Jim Mascitelli, Sydney Managing Partner, Denis Usher, Managing Partner of Mazars Singapore and representative of the Global Executive Board, Rose Megale, Partner and Warren Duncan, Partner and co-founder of Duncan Dovico (which became Mazars in Sydney).
The Brisbane office followed suit, holding their launch the following evening at Customs House – an inner-city venue boasting magnificent architectural heritage located alongside the Brisbane river. Together with 230 attendees, the Brisbane team celebrated their transition from Hanrick Curran to Mazars and the expansion of Mazars in Australia. MC Katrina Blowers, Seven News Reporter, introduced our speakers including John Kotzur, Brisbane Managing Partner and Denis Usher, Managing Partner of Mazars Singapore and representative of the Global Executive Board. The event formalities concluded with the presentation of a plaque to Hanrick Curran’s co-founder, Kim Hanrick, in recognition of his contribution to the firm, including an announcement to rename the Brisbane boardroom in Kim’s honour. Entertainment continued throughout the night with a string quartet playing as guests continued to network.
At both the Sydney and Brisbane events, a personalised video recording of Hervé Helias, CEO and Chairman of Mazars Group was played, highlighting Mazars’ support of our Australian offices and our pathway to becoming one of Australia’s top 10 accounting practices.
Later that week the combined Melbourne offices held a Post-Election Breakfast at the Carousel Albert Park - a modern venue with beautiful lakeside and cityscape views. Over a hot breakfast, 135 attendees were provided with key tax insights presented by a panel of experts including Evan Beissel, Mazars Tax Consultant, Emma Alberici, ABC’s Chief Economics Correspondent, Michael Jones, Mazars Superannuation expert and a video recording from Professor Neville Norman, one of Australia's leading economists. Co-MC’s Amanda Castricum and Michael Jones, Partners of Mazars Melbourne, provided a brief overview of the integration and collaboration between offices in Melbourne and expanded expertise and presence throughout Australia. Denis Usher also presented on behalf of the Mazars Global Executive Board.
All guests were farewelled from events with a bag of exclusive merchandise prepared for the celebrations.
Over the last six months we have implemented various internal initiatives to integrate, support and celebrate our expanded local presence with our staff. Already there have been opportunities for staff to transfer interstate and collaborate with colleagues worldwide, to develop them as leaders, cross-fertilize experience and culture, and share best practices and innovations around the world.
Mazars in Australia provides personal, agile and trusted advice to assist major international groups, SMEs, private investors and public bodies at every stage in their development. We’re excited to be taking the next step in our journey and look forward to the continued growth of Mazars.
