Fair Work Commission releases 2020 wage decision
Although the increase will be applied to all Awards, the FWC has staggered the application dates for different Awards.
Increases will apply from 1 July 2020 for the minimum wage. Awards falling into “group one” will also increase at this time, primarily representing frontline healthcare, social assistance workers, teachers and childcare workers as well as other essential services.
From 1 November 2020 “group two” Awards will increase, these are described as those in the construction, manufacturing and other industries.
The final implementation date will be 1 February 2021 for the remaining Awards falling into “group 3”. Those being in accommodation/food services, arts/recreation, aviation, retail and tourism.
