Notification of place of residence (Form TM30)
The issue of the Royal Gazette published on 16 June 2020 set out new regulations regarding Form TM30. A landlord is still required to submit Form TM30 within 24 hours of a foreigner’s arrival.
Proposals to amend the Civil and Commercial Code
On 9 June 2020, the Thai cabinet approved a draft act amending the Civil and Commercial Code (“CCC”) regarding partnerships and limited companies.
Provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act deferred
A Royal Decree was recently issued stating that data controllers in certain entities and businesses are not yet subject to the Personal Data Protection Act, 2562 B.E. (2019) (“the PDPA”). Therefore, the enforcement of certain provisions of the PDPA is deferred to 31 May 2021.
BOI measures to enhance investments in large-scale projects
The BOI recently announced special short-term measures to enhance investments in large-scale projects to boost the Thai economy. The main measure is the ability to claim an additional 50% reduction in corporate income tax for 5 years, with the key conditions being as follows.
VAT registration through the Department of Business Development
By virtue of the Notification of the Director-General of the Revenue Department related to Value-added Tax (VAT) (No. 234) issued on 17 April 2020, an entrepreneur is able to register for VAT with the Department of Business Development (DBD) by submitting a VAT application together with an application for establishing a new ordinary partnership, limited partnership, or limited company, effective 20 April 2020.
