Applications to support working from home

In order to contain the virus and flatten the curve, many of us have now begun working from home. Below are some cloud-based applications which can assist you with working from home, increase work efficiency, and eliminate the feeling of being isolated.

Meetings and communication

Slack is an instant messaging platform allowing you to connect with other Slack users in your organization. Its features include private chats, chat rooms (otherwise known as channels), and has file-sharing capabilities.

Zoom is a remote conferencing service combining video conferencing, online meetings, chat, and mobile collaboration.

Microsoft Teams is part of the Office 365 suite of applications, and combines collaboration, chat, video conferencing, and file storage. It is fully integrated with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Planner, etc.

Mazars Thailand uses Microsoft Teams, which allows us to keep in touch with colleagues regardless of where they are. Mazars uses both instant messaging and video conferencing functions.

If you subscribe to the Office 365 suite, Teams synchronizes with Outlook, allowing you to invite non-Teams users to video calls.  Another advantage of using messaging-based applications is the reduction of clutter in your inbox.

File sharing/document storage/collaboration

Dropbox is a cloud-based file hosting service bringing files together in one central location. Users can invite others to give them access to their Dropbox.

Google Drive is a file storage service that allows you and other team members to work on the same document simultaneously.

SharePoint is a cloud-based collaborative platform used for document management and storage.

Smartsheet is another collaboration tool used to assign tasks, track project progress, and share documents.

Due to the seamless integration with Microsoft, Mazars uses SharePoint to share documents with colleagues from other Mazars offices around the region.

Microsoft Teams was mentioned earlier, but it deserves another mention for file sharing too. Team members can share documents on Teams and co-edit documents.

Digital signatures

PandaDoc is a document builder that lets you create documents that you and your clients can sign digitally.

DocuSign allows organizations to manage electronic agreements and have documents signed digitally.

Mazars uses PandaDoc for digital signing. One of the benefits of using PandaDoc is that it allows users to create templates. This allows documents with nearly identical content to be created more efficiently.

Accounting

Xero is a cloud-based accounting software. Xero provides real-time information, and can be accessed anywhere in the world. Xero has an ecosystem of over 800 business applications. A business can use this to build its own cloud-based operating platform.

Mazars is Thailand’s only Xero Platinum Partner. Xero is used to provide companies with an efficient way of managing their business, providing 24-hour access to data from anywhere in the world, as well as streamlining accounting processes so that there is a single source of real-time data.

Thai Account Pack integrates with Xero, and enables businesses in Thailand to prepare withholding tax certificates and payment vouchers. Withholding tax and VAT returns can be prepared and filed online.

Mazars Thailand has also partnered with Thai Accounting Pack, which handles withholding tax, e-filing, and payment vouchers. It ensures that your business works smoother and faster in regard to the Thai tax system, and that it stays compliant with Thai regulations.
