IASB seeks input from stakeholders on intangible assets project
The project was launched this year in response to the IASB’s third consultation on its work plan, which identified reporting on intangible assets, whether or not they are recognised in the balance sheet, as a high priority – particularly in light of new business models.
The request for input takes the form of two surveys, one targeted specifically at investors, the other aimed at companies and other stakeholders. The responses will help the IASB to identify:
- the problem that it needs to solve;
- the scope of the project; and
- how best to structure the project in order to deliver improvements in a timely fashion.
The surveys are open until 30 November 2024, and the IASB will discuss the feedback in early 2025.
