Corporate social responsibility

Long-term thinking, planning and development to create positive change have always been an integral part of who we are. Our history is one of sustainable and inclusive growth driven by continued stewardship and a commitment to serving the general interest by the very nature of what we do. Above all, we want to uphold that long-term perspective and prepare for a seamless transition to future generations of leaders.

Our purpose

Our ambition is to help build the economic foundations of a fair and prosperous world by caring for the success of our people and clients, the health of financial markets, the maintenance of trust in society and the restoration of the environment.

Our strategy

Living up to our core values, we have put sustainability at the heart of our business. As part of our commitment to creating value for all our stakeholders, we have built a robust strategy to drive positive change for our people, our clients, the environment and local communities.

This strategy is focused on five key pillars:

Upholding our values of integrity and responsibility
Guided by our code of conduct and the foundational values of our firm, we recognise our role in serving the public interest. As an authentic, responsible firm, we rely on our values to deliver quality services to our clients while also creating a positive impact on our people, the planet and society at large.

Putting people at the heart of our development
We strive to support the growth and development of our people by offering them lifelong learning opportunities, reinforcing their potential and designing careers that fit their aspirations. We focus on developing technical and leadership skills whilst fostering a more inclusive and diverse workplace that is fit for the future, where people have a sense of belonging and can make meaningful contributions by being themselves.

Our people strategy therefore focuses on three key areas: empowering our people to grow and lead, diversity and inclusion, and learning and culture.

Reducing our environmental impact
As our world faces an existential crisis due to rising global temperatures, every individual and entity has a role to play, including Forvis Mazars. With our global partnership, we will continue to work to preserve the environment and fight climate change by taking robust actions to reduce our carbon footprint in line with climate science and the goal of a net-zero future.
Contributing to local communities
Community engagement and impact encompasses our work to improve social and economic conditions in the communities where we operate. We believe in using our skills and expertise to solve social challenges through a hands-on approach.
As a knowledge-intensive firm, we leverage education as a a vehicle to make a tangible difference in people's lives, empowering them through the necessary skills and knowledge to access a better future.
Supporting clients on their sustainability journey
We have grown a full suite of sustainability capabilities, covering environmental, social and governance assurance and advisory services, to support organisations on their journey to sustainability. Our dedicated sustainability team has the expertise to help clients contribute to a stronger and more sustainable economy for tomorrow.

As a responsible organisation that is committed to acting with integrity and transparency, we are also a signatory and active participant in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). We strive to implement the UNGC principles in our work, and we publish regular reports on our sustainability performance.

Our strategy and actions are also designed to contribute towards the advancement of nine of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

Our local contribution

In 2024, our local team wanted to make a meaningful difference in our community by offering invaluable support to the Soup Kitchen in Valletta. Together we successfully raised much needed resources - ranging from monetary donations to clothing and food - which were instrumental to helping those in need, fostering positive change and enhancing the well-being of our society.

A selected group of our team also gave a helping hand to the Soup Kitchen team as they helped serving food to those in need.

We were also honoured to welcome Father Marcellino to our offices, where he delivered an inspiring talk at the Springs' Cafe. His presence further enriched our community engagement, reflecting the generosity and commitment of our team.

This initiative highlights the power of collective action and philanthropy as we work together to build a brighter future for all.

2023 is a special year for Forvis Mazars in Malta as the firm is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. The theme of our 25th Anniversary is Growing with purpose together. We see this milestone as an opportunity to bridge the values and strengths which have defined our success, with the firm’s fundamental purpose and vision – that of continuing to create value together with our stakeholders, and investing in what matters for our people, our clients and the local community.

As part of the 25th Anniversary initiatives, Forvis Mazars in Malta is launching a €25,000 CSR scheme which will fund youth-based projects for a better future. This scheme, which will span over three years, will mark Forvis Mazars’ established presence in Malta, further linking the firm to the local community, and its future with that of Malta’s youths.

Towards the ends of 2023, our team also embarked on a clean-up mission in Ta’ Qali where they dedicated their time to remove waste from our countryside. Together with Coast is Clear, we managed to collect 57 bags of rubbish from this site, giving our team heightened satisfaction and motivation as we reflect our continued commitment towards sustainability and the preservation of our environment.

In 2021, Forvis Mazars in Malta sponsored the planting of 50 trees in the Majjistral Park area (Ghajn Tuffieha) with the aim of adding more over the next months. We believe that is important to play our part in the fighting climate change and preserving the environment.

The area in the northwest of Malta, which includes the coastal area from Golden Bay to Il-Prajjet and ix- Xagħra l-Ħamra, was declared a national park by the Government of Malta in September 2007. The Park was named after the name for Northwest region or wind – ‘majjistral’ – in the Maltese language.
