Event | VAT Legislation: Practical insights

The complexity of Malta’s VAT legislation is a growing concern for many businesses, and complying with such legislation often requires quick thinking and immediate action.

However, if handled well, VAT-related requirements can offer significant opportunities for cash-flow and bottom-line savings.

During this workshop, we shall be focusing on provisions of the Malta Value Added Tax Act which are often overlooked by taxpayers, as well as on practical insights into certain VAT procedures.

In particular, this workshop will deal with:

  • Set-offs
  • Cash Accounting
  • Deferral of VAT Payments
  • Transfer of a business as a going concern
  • Adjustment relating to input tax on capital goods
  • Switching VAT registration
  • Small undertakings threshold
  • Tackling VAT investigations
  • Input VAT incurred on ‘blocked’ acquisitions
  • Monthly vs quarterly VAT periods

As in past ‘Made Simple by Forvis Mazars’ sessions, our approach will be hands-on, in order to meet the practical needs of small and mid-sized business owners who are just interested in the facts.
