Changes under discussion from 2025 - Initial occupational medical inspections

The Ministry of Health has prepared an amendment to Act No.373/2011 Coll., on Specific Health Services, concerning, among other things, initial occupational health inspections. The comment procedure has been completed and further developments are now awaited. The effective date of the amendment is proposed for 1 January 2025.

The amendment should unify the procedure for periodic and initial occupational health inspections, i.e. it is proposed to abolish the obligation to undergo an initial occupational health inspection from 2025 for the 1st and 2nd risk categories under the Act on Public Health Protection (periodic occupational health inspections were cancelled for these two categories from 1 January 2023).

The proposal aims to reduce the administrative burden on employers and doctors who assess the health status of new employees. It is expected to maintain the voluntariness of the initial occupational health inspection (i.e. both the employee and the employer can request an initial inspection).
