On 17 December 2024, in a significant move to support families and stimulate the birthrate, the Cabinet approved a draft ministerial regulation to increase the child allowance benefit. Effective from 1 January 2025, the monthly allowance will rise from 800 baht to 1,000 baht per child.

Deadline extended to make Social Security electronically
On 17 December 2024, the Cabinet approved an extension of the deadline for Social Security contributions electronically. This new regulation will provide an additional 7 working days beyond the usual deadline of the 15th of the following month, effective from January 2025 to December 2029.
New Deadlines:
- Paper Submission: 15th of the following month
- Electronic Submission: 15th of the following month, plus 7 more working days
For instance, the deadline for January 2025 contributions will be extended from 15 February to 25 February 2025.
This measure is intended to facilitate contributions made by employers and to promote the use of electronic payment methods in line with the National E-payment Master Plan, which seeks to modernize financial transactions and enhance the business environment.
