This policy aims to boost overall growth and encourage investment, particularly in the Digital Industry and Innovation Promotion Zone (Digital Park Thailand or EECd) under the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society. The EECd project was established with the following objectives:
- Enhance the capabilities of Thailand’s digital industry.
- Support and promote digital technology and innovation.
- Upgrade and develop the existing ICT industry into the New S-Curve Digital Industry.
- Develop the zone as a centre for trade and investment in digital innovation industries
Types of EEC visas The EEC visa programme offers four categories:
- S for Specialists
- E for Executives
- P for Professionals
- O for Others (Spouses and Dependents)
Benefits of the EEC visa
EEC visa holders enjoy several advantages:
- Maximum 10-year visa: The EEC visa is valid for up to 10 years, based on the length of the employment contract. Upon initial entry to Thailand, however, the visa holder will receive a stamp valid for up to five years. Extensions can then be obtained for additional five-year periods.
- Multiple re-entry: Unlimited re-entries throughout the validity period.
- Simplified procedures: Issuance of the EEC work permit, online reporting options, and fast-track lane at Thai international airports.
- 17% flat income tax rate: EEC visa holders are taxed at a reduced personal income tax rate, set at a flat 17%.
- Family sponsorship: EEC visa holders can sponsor their spouse and dependents to live in Thailand.
Official fees
There are two official fees associated with the EEC visa programme:
- Visa application fee of THB 10,000 per person per year.
- EEC work permit application fee of THB 20,000 per person
