Mazars Partner attended Customs-Business Forum on 8th September 2022
The forum was attended by leaders of the Ministry of Finance, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), departments under the General Department of Vietnam Customs, organizations, business associations, domestic companies, and foreign enterprises.
That event was held on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Customs (September 10, 1945 - September 10, 2022). Vietnam Customs has made great efforts to build a professional and modern customs force on par with customs administrations of developed countries in the world. According to the Organizing Unit, the forum aims to promote the development of import-export and logistics activities, contributing to the stable economic development of the economy with the goal of a strong Vietnam in 2045 in accordance with the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The forum is an opportunity for the leaders of the General Department of Vietnam Customs to provide information on Customs reform and modernization in the next period. Therefore, the domestic and foreign business community and relevant agencies can grasp information and believe in the process of Customs modernization and reform, especially the support and facilitation by the Customs sector for the business community to overcome difficulties and implement plans for economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic. The Organizing Unit believes that the opinion of the participants in the forum will give a comprehensive assessment on the efficiency of Customs reform and modernization. The direction and support by the Customs for the business community in boosting the development of trade flows was also shared and discussed at the forum. The forum also announced and honored large and compliant taxpayers. These are major import and export enterprises that pay large tax amounts and comply well with customs laws, contributing to Vietnam’s trade facilitation and logistics development.
Speaking at the event, Mr Minh Nguyen shared his views on the process of Customs modernization and reform, especially the support and facilitation by the Customs sector for the business community to overcome difficulties during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. Featured in an interview with VTV1 after the event, he emphasized that Customs reform has helped businesses reduce the time and cost of carrying out administrative procedures whilst timely took action to remove difficulties for enterprises.
