Covid-19 and the world of private equity
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have surveyed private equity firms and investors to understand the challenges, level of optimism and response strategies. This survey is the second edition and follows on our first edition of the report released in June 2020. Although private equity investors continue to face a challenging environment, this survey has confirmed and reinforced a sense of optimism across the private equity community.
It finds the investor market to be increasingly optimistic, actively seeking new opportunities and comfortable completing deals from home. Respondents predict revenues to fall less severely over the next 12 months than previously expected along with a U-shaped recovery and shorter delays to their exit strategies than earlier predicted.
Key findings
- More than 90% of respondents are looking to invest in new businesses
- Revenue decline expected to be less severe than previously thought
- Majority expect 'U-shaped' recovery, are comfortable completing deals from home, and say governments have responded well
