A spotlight on innovation and R&D
The Forvis Mazars sponsorship will provide essential financial support to Old Wesley’s youth development teams, senior teams, as well as its visually impaired team and touch rugby team. This sponsorship underscores a commitment to fostering growth and inclusivity across all levels of the club, helping to ensure that players of all abilities have the resources and opportunities to thrive.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Tom O’Brien, Managing Partner at Forvis Mazars, said:
"We are delighted to partner with Old Wesley RFC. We believe in supporting grassroots sports that play such an important role in the community, empowering individuals to achieve their full potential and this philosophy extends to our collaboration with Old Wesley RFC.
“Old Wesley’s proud legacy and unwavering commitment to excellence are values that we share at Forvis Mazars. This sponsorship goes beyond supporting the club’s sporting goals; it is an opportunity to contribute to Old Wesley’s mission of developing and empowering young talent, ensuring that its players reach their full potential both on and off the field.”
Over the past decade, the Old Wesley has excelled at the Junior level, winning numerous trophies and leading the way among Leinster clubs with nearly double the achievements of their nearest rival. Their Under 20s have seen increased participation in Leinster academy levels, and internationally the club has a proud history of contributing to Ireland’s rugby success, with two notable former mini-rugby players, Andrew Porter and Ryan Baird, currently representing Ireland. Additionally, several of the club’s men’s and women’s touch rugby players have been selected for the Irish team that competed in the recent Touch World Cup.
Old Wesley RFC Club President, Alan Browning, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Forvis Mazars as our new sponsor. Their generous support will significantly bolster our club’s rugby development ambitions and our mission to nurture the next generation of rugby talent in all its forms. This partnership provides us with the backing and security to make substantial investments in our coaches, teams and facilities, fostering the growth and development of our players at all levels. Additionally, it will help us combat the decline in team sports by increasing the participation at youth levels and ensuring that all our players and coaches enjoy their experience, improve their skills, stay active, and build friendships.”
Founded in 1891, Old Wesley RFC has been a prominent fixture in Irish rugby for over a century. Based in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, and Ballycorus, Dublin 18, the club competes in Senior Rugby in Division 1B of the Energia All-Ireland League.
In addition to their senior team, Old Wesley fields four other adult teams, an Under-20s team, a Visually Impaired team and a successful Touch Rugby section. The club also has a strong Mini and Youth programme, with teams ranging from ages 6 to 18, fostering the development of young talent at every level.
