The Simplified Joint Stock Company ("Sociedad por Acciones Simplificadas" or "SAS") has become the most widely used type of company in the country due to its flexibility and legal ease. However, the SAS has its limits: it cannot be used in the Initial Public Offering.
However, the Decree 1357 of 2018, called Crowdfunding Decree, allows the SAS to finance its projects through debt or equity emission up to a maximum of 58,000 SMLV.
