Deadline to renew RNT expires March 30
According to the norms and regulations on tourism, the National Tourism Registry must be updated within the first three (3) months of each year, since it is valid annually. This renewal, in the mentioned period, must be made regardless of the date of the initial registration, i.e., if the initial registration was made in November 2018, the renewal must be made in the first three months of 2019.
When the tourist service provider does not update the RNT within the established period, it will be automatically suspended until the provider complies with the renewal obligation, without prejudice to any administrative sanctions that may apply.
It should be noted that, during the time of suspension of the Registry, the tourist service provider may not exercise the activity; and that, the provision of tourist services without being registered in the RNT (situation that applies in the event of suspension) would lead to the authorities to impose a fine ranging from 5 to 50 legal monthly minimum wages in force, according to Article 47 of Law 1429 of 2010.
Ending last year, Decree 2063 of November 1, 2018, was issued where the information contained in the certificate of the National Tourism Registry was modified, as well as some of its provisions related to the grounds for not making the registration, the general requirements for registration, updating, among others.
With this new decree, the renewal or registration in the RNT will be a declarative process that eliminates the document upload, and which will be carried out in the new platform that came into operation on February 1, 2019.
