On April 13, 2018, at a celebration of 30th anniversary of the establishment of Hainan Province and the Hainan Special Economic Zone, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the approved decision of the establishment of Hainan free trade zone and transform the entire island into a free trade port, aiming to become the world No. 1 free trade port.
