Mazars further develops its sustainability offering with leading German sustainability consultancy, Stakeholder Reporting
The addition of Stakeholder Reporting’s 70-strong team brings Mazars’ sustainability headcount to more than 100 professionals in Germany and strengthens the firms growing international sustainability practice, already present in more than 30 countries. The team aims to meet the growing demand for advisory, audit and reporting services in environmental, social and governance (ESG), helping to further accelerate the transformation of clients’ businesses.
With the addition of Stakeholder Reporting, Mazars’ multi-disciplinary partnership is positioning itself even more strongly as a one-stop-shop for holistic advisory and audit services, driving further growth in this field.
The sustainable transformation of the economy is one of the dominant topics of the current decade. About 15,000 companies in Germany and 50,000 across the EU will be subject to reporting requirements under the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Even more companies will likely be directly or indirectly affected by the introduction of supply chain due diligence legislation.
"As a reliable partner, we support our clients in implementing their corporate responsibility objectives along the entire value chain, strengthening their position in the market and creating the basis for long-term economic success. With the addition of Stakeholder Reporting, we are linking Mazars' core business of financial reporting even more closely with sustainability reporting. By expanding our capacity and growing our competences, we can respond even better to the requirements of both international companies and local medium-sized businesses to create long-term value," explains Dr Christoph Regierer, Partner and Representative of the Management Board, Mazars in Germany.
Michael Winter, founder of Stakeholder Reporting, adds: "We have found an ideal partner in Mazars. We share a clear mission: to make economic activity more sustainable. Together, we can provide a single source of advice to our clients on the integration of financial and non-financial management processes, with a broad portfolio of services to help them deal with the increasing requirements in this area. With our experienced staff and a management team of Carolin Friedrich, Moritz Sckaer, Harald Utler and Kai Wuttke that is well established in the ESG market, we are ideally positioned for the economic transformation to a 'stakeholder economy'. I look forward to the innovative projects that Stakeholder Reporting and Mazars will implement together for our clients.”
Stakeholder Reporting is one of the largest sustainability consultancies in the German-speaking DACH region of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Through this new affiliation, Mazars will support its clients even more comprehensively in the successful transformation of their business processes, products and services towards sustainability.
Chris Fuggle, Global Head of Sustainability Services at Mazars concludes: "The EU is leading the charge when it comes to standardised sustainability reporting. However, it’s becoming a key business topic outside of Europe too. Whether the driver is being able to access supply chains, finance or consumers, businesses are increasing realising that having an ESG strategy and addressing key sustainability topics is core to good business. The rapidly growing depth of our teams across sustainability consultancy, sustainability assurance and sustainable finance reflects this market need. Having Stakeholder Reporting join the Mazars team is a fantastic development.”
