Mazars to highlight the importance of digitization for the banking sector at the Africa Banking Forum 2016

Mazars is proud to be the Scientific Partner of the 8th edition of the Africa Banking Forum (ABF) to be held on 31 May & 1 June 2016 in Dakar and discuss the benefits of digitization to expand access to banking services on the continent.

The Africa Banking Forum is the largest event for banking services in North, West & Central Africa gathering more than 300 participants from the Banking sector globally. This year, the forum is hosted for the first time in Dakar and thus highlighting the position of the Senegalese capital as an emerging financial hub.

As last year, this edition will highlight the main challenges the African Banking sector is facing, with a focus on the topics of Convergence and Development of para-banking business, banking services for the SMEs and Technological Structuring. 

Kamal Mokdad, managing partner of Mazars in Morocco, will be part of the scientific committee and moderate two panel discussions, one on the financing and access to the banking system for small businesses (day 1) and one on the role the latest technological innovations can play in the African banking sector (day 2).

How can Banks benefit from the digitization of Financial Services to increase their market share in Africa?

On day 2, Kamal Mokdad will moderate a panel session dedicated to “Taking advantage of the main technology trends to enhance access to banking services”. With a group of experts, he will discuss how the African banking sector is affected by the recent technological and digital revolution and what strategies banks must implement as to profit from the new trends and achieve a higher penetration rate in Africa.

The main focus of this session will be on the rise of mobile banking services and branch-less banking, cloud applications, big data, and the internationalisation of banking services. It will be an opportunity for key players to present their latest innovations and solutions as well.
