Tertius Troost Senior Manager - Tax Consulting
Tertius joined Forvis Mazars in 2012 and after completing his SAICA articles, joined the tax advisory team as a tax consultant.
Experience
Tertius has an accounting and audit background and specialises in corporate taxation. His tax experience extends over various fields including mergers and acquisitions, group restructuring, international tax (both inbound and outbound investments) and share incentive schemes. Tertius’s tax knowledge comprises of income tax, capital gains tax and corporate international tax.
Tertius completed his Bachelor of Accounting (2010) and Honours (2011) degree at Stellenbosch University, after which he went on to pass his first and second board examinations, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2015. The following year (2016), Tertius completed his Master’s degree in Taxation at Stellenbosch and has completed an LLM specialising in International Tax Law at King’s College London in 2022, passing the degree with distinction.
Tertius has been specialising in tax since 2015 and been part of numerous multinational projects, with specific focus on Africa and Africa co-ordination. Tertius’s in-depth knowledge of the international tax landscape has guided many clients looking to expand offshore, or offshore clients looking to invest in South Africa and other African countries. In addition, Tertius has drafted numerous opinions on corporate restructure transactions, including assistance provided to the client with the implementation of such restructure transactions.
Tertius heads the publications division of the tax advisory team and has published various tax related articles in, inter alia, Business Day, Moneyweb, Business Brief, and Entrepreneur Magazine.
