Gene Kwee, Mazars in Singapore Partner and Head of Tax APAC was the key speaker at the Wolters Kluwer’s live workshop, ‘Permanent Establishment Essentials’ held on 27 July.
The workshop was designed to give tax professionals a practical understanding of PE, where Gene offered expert insight into the OECD and Singapore PE rulings for cross-border business.
At the workshop, Gene discussed the framework and essentials of PE as well as their impacts on tax planning, through a combination of various case studies and interactive discussions.
Participants were able to identify the different types of PE, evaluate the PE risks involved in establishing a business presence overseas, understand the tax framework in tax treaties for attributing taxing rights between countries.
The workshop was targeted at tax managers and professionals, finance directors and managers who wish to gain a broad overview of PEs and understand their impact on their cross-border transactions in addition to finance professionals who need to understand the implications of PE and its implications on their planning process.
