The Launch of Tech.Pass in Singapore to Attract Highly Skilled Technology Professionals
The Economic Development Board (EDB) has announced that a new work pass called Tech.Pass will be launched next year. The target is top-tier foreign tech professionals and experts looking to start businesses, lead corporate teams or teach here. EDB is seeking to attract highly skilled technology professionals in fields such as e-commerce, artificial intelligence and cyber security.
A Tech.Pass will be valid for two years, with a one-time renewal for two more years. One beauty of Tech.Pass is that individuals may apply for it without employer sponsorship. Applications will start in January 2021, with only 500 places available upon official launch.
Tech.Pass is an extension of the Tech@SG programme that was launched in 2019. The Tech@SG programme anchors and supports the expansion of high potential companies in Singapore. Both programmes facilitate fast growing tech companies and established tech talent to enter and anchor themselves in Singapore – the expectation is that they bring their networks and experience to benefit the local tech ecosystem. These initiatives will facilitate the further development of Singapore’s tech ecosystem.
